My work embodies entirely the definition of the word pattern in order to delve deeper to find meaning and influence of a repitition
that continually recycles and upgrades periods of culture and thought throughout not only history, but back and forth between
factions within that history.
I have taken to the medium of oil paint to translate my own cultural perceptions...my perception of the way the world
works and feels, with an evolution stemming from a learned brand of modern capitalism. By piecing the construct of what a
pattern is, literally or figuratively, mathmatically and culturally, I am able to unravel motivation for the current works.
These patterns are explored through a reflexive model originating from a certain dialogue that can be found between the arts
and design, historically and contemporarily. A constant beg, borrow and steal. It began as simply noticing compositions revolving
between art, fashion and design in a converse exchange and eventually realized itself in a project involving the very dialogue
I was piecing together. Another interest in my work is the defining of space, and juxtaposing its definition while physically
using the medium as compositional sarcasm.
